Gm. Brown et al., SERS STUDY OF THE INTERACTION OF THIOUREA WITH A COPPER ELECTRODE IN SULFURIC-ACID-SOLUTION, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 380(1-2), 1995, pp. 161-166
The electrochemical interaction of thiourea with a copper electrode in
sulphuric acid solution was investigated using Fourier transform Rama
n and in situ surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy. S
ERS spectra of thiourea at a copper electrode were obtained in solutio
ns containing greater than 5 ppm thiourea; the-spectra obtained were c
onsistent with adsorption of the molecule on the copper electrode via
the sulphur atom. The SERS spectra provide evidence of complex formati
on involving thiourea and sulphate species at the electrode surface.
