Bl. Tumanskii et al., ESR STUDY OF SPIN-ADDUCTS OF TRIMETHYLAMINOBORYL RADICALS WITH FULLERENE C-60, Russian chemical bulletin, 43(4), 1994, pp. 624-626
It was established by ESR that trimethylaminoboryl radicals formed by
UV irradiation of BH(3)NMe(3) in the presence of di-tert-butyl peroxid
e in saturated benzene solutions of fullerene C-60, add to fullerenes
to give C-.(60)-BH(2)NMe(3) spin-adducts. The latter undergo dimerizat
ion with a rate constant of ca. 2.5.10(6) L mol(-1) s(-1). A more prol
onged photolysis of excess BH(3)NMe(3) in a benzene solution of C-60 r
esults in multiple addition of the trimethylaminoboryl radicals to the
fullerene to give stable radicals C-.(60)[BH(2)NMe(3)](n).
