Abstract
Mono- and binuclear gold(I) derivatives of ortho-substituted diphenyl ether, C(6)H(5)OC(6)H(4)AuPPh(3) and O(C6H4)(2)(AuPPh(3))(2), were pre pared by the reaction of the 2,2'-dilithium derivative of diphenyl eth er with ClAuPPh(3). X-Ray structural study has shown that these compou nds contain secondary intramolecular bonds between the gold and oxygen atoms. The interaction of C(6)H(5)OC(6)H(4)AuPPh(3) with (AuPPh(3))BF 4 affords the [C6H5OC6H4(AuPPh(3))(2)]BF4 cationic complex. The fatter reacts with PPh(3) to give the starting C(6)H(5)OC(6)H(4)AuPPh(3) com plex.
