TROUT (SALMO-TRUTTA FARIO) STOCKING PRACT ICES IN FRENCH MEDITERRANEAN REGION - CASE OF THE ORB BASIN (HERAULT)

Since the end of the last century, stocking practices were developed t o control the brown trout population densities. The stocking practices of the rivers in the French mediterranean region between 1984 and 198 7 were analysed using the records of the local fishing associations. M ost of the fish introduced were brown trout (Salmo trutta fario L.). i n absence of synthesis, a historical balance-sheet (from 1966 to 1989) of the brown trout stocking practices was realized for the Herault co untry and the Orb basin. The stocking practices are generalized, but d iffer among localities and administrators.
