Abstract
A new method to obtain the contour of a bi-level image is proposed. Th e method hinges on the clustering property of an image. The order of t he search sequence for each boundary pixel is determined dynamically a ccording to the occurring probabilities of its adjacent neighbors. The complexity of the proposed method is then analyzed, and some images a nd Chinese characters are processed. The results indicate that the pro posed algorithm increases computation speed significantly over other e stablished algorithms. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
