Because they are often anisotropic and heterogeneous, deposits lend th emselves badly to analysis of residual stresses. Using as basis a part of the work conducted on austeno-ferritic stainless steel coatings co ntaining a little less than 10% ferrite and having a crystallographic structure called ''fibrous'', we are exposing here the procedure follo wed to calculate the elastic characteristics necessary for the study o f residual stresses depending on the thickness of the deposit.
