S. Hillebrandt et C. Streffer, QUANTITATIVE COMPUTERIZED ANALYSIS OF SILVER-STAINED AND COOMASSIE BLUE-STAINED 2-DIMENSIONAL PROTEIN MAPS, Zeitschrift fur Naturforschung. C, A journal of biosciences, 49(11-12), 1994, pp. 849-855
Using the two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and two systems for comp
uter analysis of the resulting maps, we obtained a good quantitative r
eproducibility of individual spots of silver-stained and Coomassie Blu
e-stained gels from mouse fetus liver samples. The GelScan-XL system w
as established for the evaluation of silver-stained gels. The Gel-Imag
e software has shown to be capable of the analysis of Coomassie Blue-s
tained gels and autoradiographs. For these systems the linear relation
ship between defined concentrations of protein loaded on the gel and t
he resulting integrated intensities of spots were examined. The result
s show that both systems are efficient to detect quantitative changes
in protein expression correlated with malformations in mouse fetuses.
