J. Linden et al., APPLICATION OF EU-151 MOSSBAUER-SPECTROSCOPY TO STUDIES OF ELECTRIC-FIELD GRADIENTS IN HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTORS, Hyperfine interactions, 93(1-4), 1994, pp. 1635-1639
The rare-earth site of samples having the compositions (Fe,Cu)Sr-2(Eu,
Ce)(n)Cu2O4+2n+z (n = 2 and 3) were studied by Eu-151 Mossbauer spect
roscopy. The results obtained are compared with measurements of EuBa2C
u3O7-delta (1:2:3) and Bi2Sr2(Ca1-yEuy)Cu2O8+epsilon (2:2:1:2) samples
. The full quadrupole Hamiltonian of the 21.5-keV gamma-transition was
applied in analyzing the measured spectra. Simultaneous fitting of sp
ectra recorded from crystallites oriented in various directions was us
ed to determine the hyperfine parameters of the n = 2 and 3 samples. T
wo different electric field gradients, not discernible in simple rando
m crystallite measurements, were obtained for the n = 3 series.
