Abstract
A maximality criterion for an arithmetic subgroup Gamma of a simple si mply connected algebraic group G subset of GL(n)(C) defined over a num ber field K is obtained. Using the criterion we give a classification at maximal arithmetic subgroups of the groups of types B-l(l > 2) and E(7).
