N. Bargmannleyder et al., HIGH-SPEED CHIRAL SEPARATION OF BETA-BLOCKERS BY SUPERCRITICAL-FLUID CHROMATOGRAPHY ON CHYROSINE-A, Chromatographia, 39(11-12), 1994, pp. 673-681
High-speed separation of beta-blockers have been successfully obtained
(analysis time <2 min) using a short column packed with ChyRoSine-A C
SP. Peculiar chromatographic behaviour of beta-blockers on tyrosine-de
rived CSPs under supercritical. conditions was evidenced by studying t
he curves of h versus the linear velocity u. Specific solvation of sol
utes by supercritical carbon dioxide is responsible for the particular
conformation of the molecule of beta-blocker which enhances chiral di
scrimination. This was evidenced by using the reciprocality concept le
ading to a new CSP derived from a propranolol analogue. Thus, it was d
emonstrated that SFC can be used for the fast chiral separation of bet
a-blockers.
