AN ANALYSIS OF CABIBBO-FAVORED 2-BODY DECAYS OF CHARMED MESONS WITH ETA OR ETA' IN THE FINAL-STATE

We have carried out a study of Cabibbo-favored two-body decays of D-0 and D-s(+) involving eta and eta' in the final state, D-0 --> (eta,eta ') (K) over bar(0), D-0 --> (eta,eta') (K) over bar(0) and D-s(+) --> (eta,eta') pi(+), D-s(+) --> (eta,eta') rho(+). We have introduced an annihilation term wherever admissible, and investigated its size if i t were to bridge the gap between theory and experiment in each case. W e have also related the semileptonic rates for D-s(+) --> (eta,eta') e (+)nu to those of the hadronic rates for D-s(+) --> (eta,eta')pi(+) an d unveiled a puzzle. We offer a possible solution.
