R. Schoysman et al., PREGNANCY OBTAINED WITH HUMAN TESTICULAR SPERMATOZOA IN AN IN-VITRO FERTILIZATION PROGRAM, Journal of andrology, 15, 1994, pp. 10-13
The fertilizing capacity of human testicular spermatozoa and the posit
ive outcome of an in vitro fertilization program open a wide range of
opportunities for men suffering from obstructive and inoperable azoosp
ermia. In six cases, subzonal sperm injection or intracytoplasmic sper
m injection techniques were applied to inject testicular spermatozoa i
nto human oocytes. The fertilization rate after testicular sperm injec
tion reached 45%. Normal cleavage was observed and replacement of 10 e
mbryos in 6 patients resulted in one chemical and one ongoing pregnanc
y.
