Scopaeus (s.str.) azerbaidzhanus, sp. n. from Azerbaijan and Iran, Sco
paeus (Hyposcopaeus) kabakovi, sp. n. from Afghanistan, Pseudobium asi
aticum, sp. n. from Kazakhastan, Kirghizia and Uzbekistan, Scimbalopsi
s kirghizica, sp. n. from Kirghizia, Scimbalopsis beloussovi, sp, n. f
rom Tajikistan are described and Scimbalopsis reitteri (Jacobson, 1909
) is redescribed. The following new synonymies are established : Scopa
eus laevigatus (Gyllenhal, 1827) = S. schneideri Bernhauer, 1900 = S.
ebneri Scheerpeltz, 1929; Lathrobium rufonitidum Reitter, 1909 = L. fe
nnicum Renkonnen, 1938. Sunius austriacus (Coiffait, 1961) is confirme
d to represent a synonym of S. fallax (Lokay, 1919). S. fallax sensu C
oiffait (1984) is proved to be identical with S. melanocephalus (Fabri
cius, 1792) and Lathrobium fennicum sensu Coiffait (1982) with L. punc
tatum Zetterstedt, 1828. Scopaeus laevigatus biskrensis Fagel, 1957 is
raised to species level and treated as a distinct species : S. biskre
nsis Fagel, 1957. Lectotypes of 6 taxa are designated : Sunius adanens
is (Lokay, 1919); S. fallax (Lokay, 1919); Scopaeus schneideri Bernhau
er, 1900, S. similis Eppelsheim, 1892, S. triangularis Lute, 1904 and
Lathrobium quadratum var. rufonitidum Reitter, 1909.
