Ms. Malik et al., TOXICITY IN RELATION TO STRUCTURE OF SUBSTITUTED 2H-1-BENZOPYRAN-2-ONES AGAINST ROOT-KNOT AND SEED-GALL NEMATODES, Nematologica, 41(1), 1995, pp. 125-129
The toxicity of various hydroxy substituted 2H-1-benzopyran-2-ones (1a
-c, 2 and 3), ester (1a-c, 5 and 6) and hydrazide (7a-c, 8 and 9) deri
vatives of 2H-1-benzopyranyloxyacetic acids and 2H-1-benzopyranyloxyac
etylpiperidines (10a-c, 11 and 12) and corresponding morpholines (13a-
c, 14 and 15) was determined against second stage juveniles of root-kn
ot nematode (Meloidogyne javanica) and seed-pall nematode (Anguina tri
tici). Several of the compounds showed appreciable toxicity against bo
th the tested nematodes. The activity results are discussed in relatio
n to structure of the compounds. In general, the free phenolic compoun
d and derived esters exhibited better toxicity.
