R. Papini et L. Casarosa, A REPORT ON THE PATHOLOGY OF BAYLISASCARIS-TRANSFUGA (ASCARIDIDAE, NEMATODA) FOR MICE, Revue de Medecine Veterinaire, 145(12), 1994, pp. 949-952
Three groups of mice were inoculated intragastrically with 3 000, 4 00
0 or 5 000 Baylisascaris transfuga infective eggs. Clinical signs were
detected in all infected groups: 7 %, 16 % and 50 % of mice died for
verminous pneumonitis within 6 days post-infection, while 2 %, 6 % and
20 % showed nervous disorders after 13 to 67 days of infection. These
findings suggest that clinical symptoms may occur in man due to B. tr
ansfuga Visceral Larva Migrans.
