RACE IDENTITY OF 3 ISOLATES OF FUSARIUM-OXYSPORUM SCHLECHT F-SP VASINFECTUM (ATK) SNYD-AND-HANS FROM EGYPT AND THE SUDAN

Two isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum from Egypt along with one strain of race 5 from the Sudan and one of race 1 from the U SA were examined for their pathogenicity toward race differential vari eties of Gossypium barbadense and for culture characteristics. One was indistinguishable from race 1 and the other from race 5. The occurren ce of these two races in Egypt is discussed. It is concluded that race 5 is identical with race 3 and that, therefore, race 5 should be with drawn.
