Recently a W-value of 9.76 eV for ionization in liquid xenon and also
a W-s-value of 14.2 eV for scintillation were reported in Nucl. Instr.
and Meth. A 323 (1992) 583. The W-value is far smaller than the previ
ously measured value. The reasons why such a value was obtained are di
scussed.
