Abstract
The correlation factors between moving average residual gravity anomal ies from a buried vertical cylinder, a two-dimensional (2-D) horizonta l cylinder and a sphere are computed. Correlation values are used to d etermine the depth to the buried structure and its size. The validity of the method is tested on synthetic data with random errors and on th e gravity map of the Texas Humble salt dome.
