Ds. Lim et al., EVIDENCE OF PHASE SINGULARITIES AND DYNAMIC PATTERNS IN STIMULATED BRILLOUIN-SCATTERING, Optics communications, 113(4-6), 1995, pp. 471-475
We report first experimental evidence of static and dynamical phase si
ngularities and pattern formations in the transverse field of multimod
e Stokes emission from stimulated Brillouin scattering. We find that n
ucleation and motion of the phase singularities, in the presence of fe
edback, results in symmetry breaking and dynamics of the patterns. The
y are also shown to mediate the spatio-temporal chaos we observe in th
e more complex patterns.
