The crystal and molecular structures of 2-amino-2-deoxy-alpha/beta-D-g
lucopyranose 3-sulfate (1) and 2-amino-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranose 6-
sulfate (2) have been determined by direct methods. The sugar rings ha
ve the expected C-4(1) conformation and the geometries of the sulfate
groups are comparable with those found in previous investigations exce
pt for a significant shortening of the C-O bond and closing of the C-O
-S bond angle in 2.
