Ms. Sastry et al., SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF COPPER(II) AND MIXED-METAL COPPER(II) ZINC(II) PEROXO COMPOUNDS CONTAINING IMIDAZOLE, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. A: Inorganic, physical, theoretical & analytical, 34(2), 1995, pp. 160-163
The reaction of equimolar mixture of copper and zinc powders with aque
ous solution of imidazole (HIm) (1:1:2) and only in the presence of ex
cess hydrogen peroxide results in the formation of a novel homogeneous
mixed metal peroxo complex [Cu, Zn (O2(2-))2(0.5 HIm)(H2O)3]. The abo
ve reaction, when carried out in the absence of zinc, gives a new comp
ound [Cu(O2(2-))(0.5 HIm)(H2O)2]. These compounds have been characteri
zed by elemental analysis, electronic, IR and ESR spectral data and th
ermogravimetric analysis. It is interesting to note the mutual influen
ce of Cu and Zn on the formation of a novel hetero nuclear peroxy imid
azole complex.
