Thin films of (BaAuOx)(BaCuO2+y)(CaCuO2)2 artificial lattices have bee
n grown by the atomic layer-by-layer growth technique with laser molec
ular beam epitaxy. These materials have a similar crystal structure to
CuBa2 Ca2Cu3Ox where the Cu site between adjacent BaO layers is repla
ced by Au. This site-selective substitution brings about a change in t
he relative intensities of X-ray diffraction pattern peaks and increas
es the lattice constant c from 1.51 nm to 1.57 nm. This Au-based cupra
te film shows zero resistance at 20 K with the onset temperature of 60
K.
