Abstract
This review presents an outline of the main observational results to d ate, and the future prospects for spectroscopic studies of solar x-ray and UV emission in the Russian (Form Soviet Union) space programme. T he investigations of solar XUV line spectra carried out at the P N Leb edev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences are stresse d. A short description of the coronal project, which aims to study the complex nature of the Sun, is also given.
