Mt. Stepke et al., VASOCONSTRICTORS DURING PREGNANCY - IN-VITRO TRIAL ON PREGNANT AND NONPREGNANT MOUSE UTERUS, International journal of oral and maxillofacial surgery, 23(6), 1994, pp. 440-442
In an in vitro trial on 80 pregnant and nonpregnant mice, the sensitiv
ity of the uterus myometrium to the vasoconstrictors vasopressin, orni
pressin, epinephrine, and norepinephrine was examined in comparison wi
th oxytocin as a standardized stimulative drug. The pregnant uterus sh
owed a significantly increased sensitivity to ornipressin, vasopressin
, and norepinephrine. Epinephrine showed no uterus-stimulating effect,
and an increase of sensitivity caused by pregnancy was not detected.
