A simulated experimental study was performed to compare two tomographi
c procedures, using either neutrons or gamma rays as applied to some m
aterials. These materials were chosen for their clear advantages and c
omplementaries such as aluminum, iron, plastic and aluminum hydroxide.
We employed two tomographic systems, both with parallel beams. The fi
rst with a gamma radiation source (Cs-137), With an energy of 662 keV
and an activity of 3.9 X 10(9) Bq (100 mCi) and the second employing a
neutron source, the Argonauta reactor, from where a thermal neutron b
eam of about 10(5) n/(cm(2) s) was obtained.
