Abstract
Thermolysis of 5,5-diphenyl-1,2,4,3-trithiagermolanes bearing bulky ar omatic substituents on germanium atom resulted in the formation of nov el germanium-sulfur double bond compounds, diarylgermanethiones, which were found to undergo ready [2+2] and [2+4] cycloaddition reactions w ith dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene to give a new class of germanium-containing heterocycles.
