Abstract
This paper reports the preparation and characterization of three new s eries of Nd3+-doped optical glasses based on GeO2,, TeO2 and V2O5. By the measurement of refractive indices (n(F), n(d), n(C)) and ultrasoni c velocities (V-b V-t), non-linearity and elastic properties of the gl asses have been studied. By the use of an Ar+ laser (488 nm), the life times of the lasing transition (F-4(32) --> I-4(11/2)) at 1.06 mu m ha ve been determined for the semiconducting laser glasses.
