Abstract
We have measured the surface normal scattering of optical second harmo nic generation (SHG) from a silver film due to excitation of surface p lasmons. Previous researchers reported a narrow angular (similar to 0. 5 degrees) p-polarized SHG distribution. Instead we observe a broad ( similar to 90 degrees) unpolarized distribution both for smooth and ro ughened silver films.
