M. Viot et M. Rousseldelvallez, IN-VITRO ACTIVITY OF CEFPIROME ON 1004 BA CTERIAL STRAINS ISOLATED FROM ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT - A MULTICENTER STUDY, Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 24(12), 1994, pp. 1253-1256
Efficacy of cefpirome was tested against 1004 bacterial isolates colle
cted from 8 oncology units. In this study, cefpirome was demonstrated
very effective on Gram negative bacilli (except Xanthomonas maltophili
a), on methicillin-susceptible staphylococci and on streptococci, apar
t from enterococci, on which cefpirome was less active. Activity of ce
fpirome against oxacillin-resistant staphylococci, Enterococcus faecal
is and E. faecium, was variable: 50 % of the strains were inhibited wi
th MIC less-than-or-equal-to 8 mg/l.
