Orientation of molecules in liquid-crystalline solvents is a powerful
tool for the study of molecular structure and orientation. However, th
e NMR spectra arising from even relatively small molecules oriented in
such solvents can be so complex as to defy analysis. There is demonst
rated here a frequency-selective modification of the basic multiple-qu
antum NMR experiment which is capable of measuring otherwise difficult
-to-obtain information in favorable spin systems. (C) 1995 Academic Pr
