Abstract
An artifact due to the metal joint of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt res ulted in a diagnosis of severe internal carotid artery stenosis at mag netic resonance angiography. Conventional x-ray angiography showed the presence of the metal joint and revealed that the artery was not sten otic.
