eld 1,3- and 1,4-{(eta(5)-C6H6)Mn(CO)(3)}(2)-C5H4)] (3). 3 reacts with
Fe-2(CO)(9) to yield [(mu-eta(5): eta(5): eta(5)-C17H15)Mn2Fe(CO)(8)]
(2). 3 reacts with (n)BuLi to produce a lithiated compound, which reac
ts with M(CO)(5)Br (M = Mn, Re), M(CO)(3)(CH3CN)(3) (M = Cr, Mo, W), a
nd FeCl3 to yield the corresponding organometallic compounds. The mole
cular structure of [(mu-eta(5): eta(5): eta(5)-C17H15)(CH3)Mn2W(Co)(9)
] (6(W)) (space group P2(1)/c; unit cell parameters a = 11.208(6), b =
19.431(3), c = 12.562(2) Angstrom , beta = 91.69 (3)degrees; R = 0.05
2%, R(W) = 0.067%) has been determined.
