Abstract
Infrared and polarized Raman spectra of Cd(HCOO)2.2(NH2)2CO and Mn(HCO O)2.2(NH2)2CO have been recorded and analysed. All the formate ions an d urea molecules are found in general sites in the crystal. The splitt ing of the bands observed are explained on the basis of factor group s plitting. The formate group is found to bridge metal atoms in the anti -syn configuration. The urea molecule is not bonded to metal atoms by co-ordination bonds, the association being electrostatic force or hydr ogen bonding.
