Dc. Sharma et Cf. Forster, COMPOST AS AN ADSORBENT FOR THE TREATMENT OF HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM, Process safety and environmental protection, 72(B4), 1994, pp. 234-240
Batch trials using a coconut fibre compost as an adsorbent for hexaval
ent chromium showed that the performance depended on the pH at which t
he process was carried out. A pH of 2 gave the best results. An examin
ation of the kinetics of absorption suggested that the process had a s
econd order reaction rate and that intra-particle diffusion together w
ith the chemical binding reactions were the rate controlling steps.
