The stratigraphic organisation of Quaternary shelf deposits of the Gol
fe du Lion shelf shows that a tectonic control interplays with high fr
equency glacioeustatic cycles. The tectonic components, at the same ti
me dip and strike, in part control the stacking pattern and the locati
on of coastal onlap, depot-centre and incised valleys; there results a
subdivision into areas with specific features. A deep structural cont
rol and sedimentary readjustment origin are proposed, although the tim
ing relative to sea level changes is still uncertain.
