Abstract
Upper limits for the rate constants of the following gas phase reactio ns have been determined at 296 K: k(FNO+O-3) < 3 x 10(-18), k(FNO+O(P- 3)) < 5 x 10(-13), k(FNO+HO2) < 3 x 10(-12), k(FNO+HCl) < 5 x 10(-18), and k(FNO2+O-3) < 8 x 10(-19) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1). These reactio ns can be ruled out as chain or sink reactions of FNO in the atmospher e. The implications for the atmospheric chemistry of FNO are discussed .
