R. Redaelli et al., 2-DIMENSIONAL MAPPING OF GLIADINS USING BIOTYPES AND NULL MUTANTS OF COMMON WHEAT CULTIVAR SARATOVSKAYA-29, Hereditas, 121(2), 1994, pp. 131-137
Four biotypes differing at the Gli-A1 and Gli-A2 loci coding for gliad
ins, and various ''null'' mutants at these loci in the common wheat cv
Saratovskaya 29, were studied by two-dimensional electrophoresis A-PA
GE x SDS-PAGE. Four to ten gliadin polypeptides were found to be contr
olled by each Gli locus. Two different alleles at the Gli-D1 locus, wh
ich could not be distinguished in one-dimensional gels, were observed
after A-PAGE x SDS-PAGE. Some polypeptides in the two-dimensional map
could not be attributed to any Gli-1 or Gli-2 locus. The possibility t
hat these polypeptides are the product of additional, gliadin-encoding
genes is discussed.
