Dc. Shallcross et Sl. Low, CONSTRUCTION OF PSYCHROMETRIC CHARTS FOR SYSTEMS OTHER THAN WATER-VAPOR IN AIR, Chemical engineering research & design, 72(A6), 1994, pp. 763-776
The theory behind the construction of psychrometric charts for any two
-component system is described and discussed. This theory is then appl
ied to prepare psychrometric charts for the air-water, air-benzene and
the air-toluene systems at different pressures. The behaviour of the
vapour phase is characterised by the Virial Equation of State truncate
d at the third term. The solubility of air in liquid water, benzene an
d toluene is also considered. The charts are constructed with the dry
bulb temperature and absolute humidity scales as the orthogonal axes.
Curves of constant adiabatic saturation temperature, constant relative
humidity, constant gas specific volume and constant enthalpy deviatio
n are plotted on the charts. The charts are prepared by programming di
rectly on a high resolution, 600 dots per inch, Postscript laser print
er. This ensures that all data is plotted with precision.
