Abstract
We describe light scattering measurements of the dynamic behavior of a binary mixture and a liquid crystal near their respective phase trans itions. These measurements and others are compared with two theoretica l approaches to the problem. In both systems, the porous medium causes glasslike behavior, in that a broad spectrum of relaxation times appe ars. A qualitative explanation for the observations is yet to be found .
