G. Proulx et al., A HUMANE KILLING TRAP FOR LYNX (FELIS-LYNX) - THE CONIBEAR-330(TM) WITH CLAMPING BARS, Journal of wildlife diseases, 31(1), 1995, pp. 57-61
The Conibear 330(TM) failed to render irreversibly unconscious in less
than or equal to 3 min one lynx (Felis lynx) struck in the shoulders
and two of eight lynx struck in the neck region, in simulated natural
environments. A Conibear 330(TM) with two clamping bars rendered uncon
scious in less than or equal to 3 min eight lynx struck in the neck an
d one struck in the shoulders. The mean (+/-SE) times to loss of consc
iousness and heartbeat were 67.2 (+/-4.0) sec and 196.0 (+/-10.4) sec,
respectively. This modified Conibear 330(TM) can be expected to rende
r greater than or equal to 70% of captured lynx irreversibly unconscio
us in less than or equal to 3 min (P<0.05).
