L. Springer et al., INFLUENCES ON COLLEGE-STUDENTS ORIENTATIONS TOWARD LEARNING FOR SELF-UNDERSTANDING, Journal of college student development, 36(1), 1995, pp. 5-18
This study involved estimation of the influences of academic and out-o
f-class experiences on orientations of students toward learning about
themselves. Both types of experiences make unique contributions to dev
elopment and also exert a modest joint effect. Implications for theore
tical models of student learning, for future research, and for adminis
trative practices are discussed.
