Abstract
This study involved estimation of the influences of academic and out-o f-class experiences on orientations of students toward learning about themselves. Both types of experiences make unique contributions to dev elopment and also exert a modest joint effect. Implications for theore tical models of student learning, for future research, and for adminis trative practices are discussed.
