Abstract
Recent evidence supports the view that p56(lck), a non-receptor protei n tyrosine Kinase, serves as the signaling element that 'senses' synth esis of a functional T-cell receptor beta chain, thereby promoting thy mocyte maturation. Here, Steven Anderson and Roger Perlmutter review c urrent data, and outline the features of this developmental program.
