Abstract
Attitude changes during the transition to parenthood of first-time and second-time parents were investigated in a cross-cultural study in fo ur countries - Germany, Austria, USA and South Korea. The results show a decline in marital satisfaction with mothers and fathers in all fou r samples. Furthermore with a path-analysis the different role of seve ral ecological variables, as e. g. of mother's employ ment and of the family of origin in the four countries could be demonstrated.
