Abstract
The corporate literature on reengineering has much to offer academic l ibraries. This article describes how reengineering can be applied in l ibrary settings, trends affecting library user services operations, an d the reengineering effort that is ongoing at Rice University where us er services operations have been transformed through collaborative ree ngineering efforts between the library and computing.
