The adsorption and electrosorption of chloroform on three different gr
anular activated carbon have been studied as a function of several par
ameters such as temperature, pH and concentration. The adsorption was
lower at neutral pH values. The adsorption capacity increased with an
increase in the initial concentration or with a decreased temperature.
The enthalpy was found to be about 10 kJ.mol(-1), which corresponds t
o st physical adsorption. The double layer capacity was determined for
two types of C.A.G.: 5 to 10 mF m(-2).
