Clinical course, ultra-sonographic features, macroscopical and histopa
thological findings of one case of fibroepithelial hyperplasia of the
mammary gland in a 6 month old female cat are described. This case sho
ws two distinctive features: firstly, based on the case history we sup
pose that the lesion is not dependent on progesterone and secondly, a
regression of several swellings spontaneously occurred without therape
utic intervention. Analysing the pedigrees of 12 cats with fibroepithe
lial hyperplasia bred at the Central Animal Facility, Medical School H
annover, evidenced a potential hereditary predisposition to this disea
se (retrospective study).
