Ultrasonic velocity and attenuation in sodium silicate glasses contain
ing another monovalent alkali oxide (K2O or Li2O) in different composi
tions at a frequency of 5 MHz have been measured by the pulse echo ove
rlap method. The densities of the specimens were also measured. The el
astic constant, acoustic impedance, thermal expansion coefficient and
internal friction of the specimens are calculated from the measured da
ta. The above parameters were analysed in terms of structural changes
of glasses with composition.
