Jk. Das et Bb. Swain, STUDY OF INTERMOLECULAR ASSOCIATION IN BINARY-MIXTURES OF METHYL-ISOBUTYL KETONE (MIBK) AND SOME MONOSUBSTITUTED BENZENES, Indian Journal of Pure & Applied Physics, 33(1), 1995, pp. 45-47
Dielectric constant (epsilon) of methyl-isobutyl ketone (MIBK), in bin
ary mixtures with four monosubstituted benzenes-namely chlorobenzene,
bromobenzene, aminobenzene and toluene has been measured at 455 kHz an
d at temperature 303.16 K. The data are used to evaluate mutual correl
ation factor g(ab), excess molar polarization Delta P and Gibbs's exce
ss free energy of mixing Delta G(ab) by Using Winkelmann-Quitzsch equa
tion for binary mixtures. The trend of variation of these parameters i
ndicate predominance of alpha-clusters with parallel dipolar orientati
on of unlike molecules in the mixtures with toluene while in the rest,
beta-clusters are dominant.
