Abstract
I extend the Jaynes-Cummings model for a many m-photon CEL recently ob tained to a more general situation in which the upper atomic level is extended to m + 1 almost degenerate levels, the (n + m)-level atom int eracts with a field via (m + 1) (n - 1) m-photon processes. Based on t he J-C model, and taking the pump statistics into consideration, we sh ow that the photon number-squeezing of the many one-photon CEL also ex ists in the linear region of laser operation, and the squeezing increa ses with increasing upper atomic levels.
