Several important questions are addressed herein, What is graduate med ical education (GME), and what is research? What is the history of the association between GME and research? Why is research required for GM E? What research is required for GME? How will health care reform affe ct GME and biomedical research? How much research is done in the Unite d States? How can the value of research be assessed? What can we expec t for the future with respect to GME and research?
